One-of-a-Kind. Wood, re-imagined. Sugar maple hardwood is lathe-turned, then hand carved and hand-colored. Rose thorn accents at the rim, turquoise inlay. An unusual standing moose horn frames an elaborately carved vessel. The artwork was inspired by the legend and stories of “Apache Tears”, and the tragic deaths of a band of braves chased by Calvary to a cliff-top perch. A pitched battled waged, deaths on both sides. Days passed, food dwindled. Legend tells that the cornered braves chose a leap to death rather than the humiliation of capture. When wives and children discovered what had happen, tears flowed in great sorrow. It is said that as the falling droplets hit the dusty ground, they turned to stone… known thereafter as “Apache Tears”. An award winning sculpture, seen pictured.
